London Stock Exchange weakly lower Friday

The market showed a small loss Friday, and UK 100 (CBOE) ended the day at 820 points, which is a decline of 0.4 percent. The week as a whole showed a gain of 1.0 percent.

719 shares showed a gain and 1027 showed a loss. 154 shares were unchanged and closed at the same price as the previous day. There was no trading in 227 shares.

Total value of the trading volume for shares and primary capital certificates Friday was approximately 1513.9 billion.

British American Tobacco PLC moved up and ended at 2485 pence, which is an increase of 2.1 percent. The stock has now risen for the sixth day in a row. The stock broke up through the resistance at 2480 pence in double bottom formation. This triggered a buy signal on increasing volume and a further increase to 2679 pence within seven months is indicated.
Haleon plc closed at 334 pence after posting a gain of 2.7 percent. We must go back to Feb 29 to find an equally strong rise. That time the stock gained 4.7 percent. The stock has now closed up for the fourth day in a row. The stock broke up through the resistance at 329 pence in rectangle formation. This triggered a buy signal on increasing volume and a further increase to 337 pence within two months is indicated.
Croda International PLC lost 1.4 percent to 4038 pence. The stock has not closed at a lower price since Oct 2017. The stock has thereby closed down 20 out of the past 26 days and this past month the stock has lost as much as 14.3 percent. Nor does it look good technically. The stock is trend wise negative in the medium term, has broken down through support at 4100 pence and a further decline is indicated.
Barratt Developments PLC showed a flat development and ended the day at 475 pence (-0.3 percent). The stock has now closed down for the seventh day in a row.
ITV PLC gained 4.3 percent to 80.00 pence. The stock has not closed higher since Apr 2023. The volume was also high. At session end it was bought and sold shares for about 4395 million pence in the stock, which equals seven times mean daily turnover. Technically it also looks good. The stock is trend wise positive in the medium term, has support at 75.00 pence and a further increase is indicated.
